Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/2 pounds beef round (steak)
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon oil (vegetable oil)
  • 1/2 yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, chopped
  • 1 can (10 3/4 ounce) condenses cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
  • 10 3/4 ounces water
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon kitchen bouquet (to brown the sauce, I omit)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat heavy skillet to medium-high. Chop meat into 1/2" pieces, easy to do if steak is just barely frozen. Season with salt, pepper and paprika and dredge in flour.

  • Step 2: Heat oil in pan, sear steak, then add onion and garlic, cooking about five minutes. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

  • Step 3: Add soup and one can of water, cover and cook 1 1/2 hours at medium heat.

  • Step 4: Just before serving, reduce heat again and add sour cream and kitchen bouquet. Cook a few more minutes, then serve over rice.
