Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup shortening (butter flavor)
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 large egg

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9 x 9 pan.

  • Step 2: In mixer, combine dry ingredients. Add shortening, first portion milk and vanilla, beating for 2 minutes.

  • Step 3: Add remaining milk and egg, beat for 2 more minutes. Pour into prepared pan.

  • Step 4: Bake for 35-40 minutes or until done. Or bake 45-50 minutes for doubled recipe and 55-60 minutes for tripled.
