Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon dry mustard
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 to 6 pounds boneless pork butt (excess fat removed)
  • 1 large yellow onion
  • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/3 cup apple cider
  • 1/3 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 8 (456 grams) hamburger buns
  • Coleslaw, for serving

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a small bowl, mix the first 8 ingredients, through pepper.

  • Step 2: Pat pork dry with paper towels and rub spice mixture all over.

  • Step 3: Spread the onion and garlic over bottom of crock-pot and place the pork on top.

  • Step 4: In a small bowl mix together the BBQ sauce, cider, chicken broth, honey and Worcestershire sauce; pour over pork.

  • Step 5: Cover and cook on low heat for 8 hours.

  • Step 6: Remove pork from cooker; set aside.

  • Step 7: With a spoon, skim off as much fat from the liquid in the cooker.

  • Step 8: Increase temperature to high.

  • Step 9: Using 2 forks, shred pork and return to cooker; cover and cook for another hour.

  • Step 10: Preheat reserved liquid.

  • Step 11: Serve pulled pork on buns with your favourite coleslaw.
