Step 1: Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, ginger together.
Step 2: Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and beat until light and fluffy.
Step 3: Add apple butter; add molasses; blend.
Step 4: Add dry ingredients; mix.
Step 5: Chill dough for 2 hours or more.
Step 6: Roll as thin as possible. Cut into large cookies.
Step 7: Place on lightly greased cookie sheet.
Step 8: Bake in moderate oven, 375 degrees Fahrenheit, for 10 minutes.
