Step 1: Dissolve yeast in milk, which has been cooled to lukewarm, with 1/2 the sugar.
Step 2: Add 1 1/2 cups flour; mix together. Let set until bubbles appear.
Step 3: Add the eggs, shortening, remaining sugar, salt, and milk. Beat well.
Step 4: Gradually add rest of flour, a small amount at time, mixing well until smooth and elastic. Cover and place in a warm spot. Let rise until doubled.
Step 5: When dough is light, stir with a spoon. Let rise again. Shape into small balls. Put in greased pans. Brush top with melted shortening.Rise in a warm place.
Step 6: Make indention in center of each.
Step 7: Fill with 1 tablespoon of filling. Let rise until double, about 10 minutes.
Step 8: Bake in 400 degree Fahrenheit oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
