Step 1: Cut onions 1/4 thick; separate into rings.
Step 2: Combine flour, salt, egg, milk, and oil.
Step 3: Beat together just until dry ingredients are well moistened.
Step 4: Coat onions rings with batter.
Step 5: Fry a few onion rings at time in 375 degree Fahrenheit deep fat, stirring once to separate rings.
Step 6: When onions are golden brown, drain on paper, and salt to taste.
