Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 Vidalia onion, very finely chopped
  • 2 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 2 cups apple cider (or distilled white vinegar)
  • 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar, firmly packed
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • 2 tablespoons fresh ground black pepper
  • Coarse salt

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a saucepan, melt butter over med heat, add onions and simmer til soft and melted, 5-7 minutes.

  • Step 2: Add ketchup, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, brown sugar, lemon juice and pepper.

  • Step 3: Bring to a boil, lower heat to low, simmer til flavors have smoothed and mellowed, at least 10 and up to 30 minutes.

  • Step 4: Taste and adjust for seasoning with salt & pepper.

  • Step 5: Store airtight in refrigerator, will last for months.
