  • 5 1/2 ounces green peas (1 cup frozen sweet peas, thawed and drained)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 3 tablespoon chopped red onion
  • 1 large garlic clove (chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (or lime juice)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon pepper (or to taste)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Place peas in strainer and run warm water over until thawed, about 2 minutes; drain.

  • Step 2: Combine the peas, cumin, red onion and garlic in food processor or blender.

  • Step 3: Process until smooth.

  • Step 4: Add lemon juice and olive oil and process just to blend.

  • Step 5: Taste and season with red pepper flakes if using and lemon pepper.

  • Step 6: Blend for a few more seconds and transfer to a serving bowl.

  • Step 7: Refigerate until ready to use.

  • Step 8: Serve with crackers, chips or fresh veggies.
