  • 2 1/2 to 3 pounds whole (chicken cut up)
  • Crisco for deep frying
  • SEASONED FLOUR
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon garlic salt
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • CRISPY BATTER
  • 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 egg yolk, beaten
  • 3/4 cup water

How to Make

  • Step 1: Combine seasoned flour ingredients in a bowl.

  • Step 2: Combine water and egg yolk. Gradually add to dry ingredients.

  • Step 3: Heat Crisco to 365°F in deep pan or fryer to a depth of about 2-inches.

  • Step 4: Moisten chicken pieces. Dip in seasoned flour then into batter then back in flour. Fry in hot Crisco for 15 to 18 minutes or until well browned. Drain on paper.
