Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound kielbasa
  • 1 small yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pickling spices

How to Make

  • Step 1: Place half the chopped onion in a 1 litre mason jar.

  • Step 2: Slice your kielbasa into 1 inch thick rounds, slice across the middle then toss into the jar.

  • Step 3: Top with the remaining onions.

  • Step 4: Place the vinegar, water, brown sugar and pickling spices in a saucepan and bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer while stirring until sugar is dissolved.

  • Step 5: Pour the liquid over the kielbasa and onion, making sure everything is covered.

  • Step 6: If need be, top with some more vinegar.

  • Step 7: Allow to marinate refrigerated for 1 week before eating.

  • Step 8: This will keep for 2 months while refrigerated.
