Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/2 pound lean ground beef (extra lean, or bison, ground venison, elk, moose)
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1/2 pound bacon
  • 1/3 cup chopped sun-dried tomato (finely chopped, in oil, drained)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chopped basil (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (pressed)
  • 1 teaspoon hot pepper flakes
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon pesto (prepared)
  • Onion (1/2 whole onion, sliced into 4 rounds)
  • 1/2 cup lettuce (4 leaves)
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 bread buns (hamburger buns)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Rough chop the bacon and toss into a food processor; process until ground and starts to stick together to form a ball.

  • Step 2: In a large bowl, mix together the ground red meat, ground pork ground bacon, sun-dried tomatoes, chopped basil, garlic and hot pepper flakes.

  • Step 3: Shape into 4 patties and cook in a large skillet over medium heat, until cooked through, about 20 minutes.

  • Step 4: In the meantime, mix together the mayonnaise and pesto.

  • Step 5: Plate a lettuce leaf on each of the bottom buns.

  • Step 6: Add a cooked burger patty, provolone slice a tablespoon of the mayo/pesto mixture an onion round and to each burger.

  • Step 7: Add your favourite toppings if you like, add the top bun.

  • Step 8: Enjoy!
