Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 4 large russet potatoes (sliced very thin)
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk (or half and half if you want it more creamy)
  • 1 tablespoons chicken bouillon granules
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, grated (divided)
  • 3/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated (divided you could use more)
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 6 green onions, sliced (whites parts only, or use more or less)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350F.

  • Step 2: Grease a medium baking dish.

  • Step 3: In a saucepan melt butter. Add flour whisk for 1 minute. Add in milk, bouillon and garlic powder. Cook sauce on low until smooth and boiling, stirring occasionally with a whisk. Reduce heat to low. Stir in 1 cup grated cheddar cheese and 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Season with some salt and pepper.

  • Step 4: Place half the sliced potatoes into baking dish. Pour half the cheese sauce over potatoes, then half of sliced green onions.

  • Step 5: Repeat with second layer with potatoes, remaining cheese sauce then remaining green onions.

  • Step 6: Sprinkle top with remaining 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese then 1 cup grated cheddar cheese.

  • Step 7: Bake uncovered for about one hour or until the potato slices are fork-tender.
