Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 2 2/3 cups flaked coconut
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon coconut extract (optional I always add it in)
  • 1 to 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (or milk chocolate, or use desired amount to cover the top)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Step 2: Grease a 13 x 9-inch baking pan.

  • Step 3: For the crust; in a bowl combine the graham crumbs with brown sugar and melted butter; gently press into the bottom of the baking pan.

  • Step 4: Bake for 10-12 minutes.

  • Step 5: Meanwhile in a bowl combine the condensed milk with coconut extract and shredded coconut; spread over the crust and return to oven for 14 minutes.

  • Step 6: Immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips on top; allow to melt then gently spread over the bars with back of a spoon.

  • Step 7: Cool before slicing.
