Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3 1/2 pounds pork ribs
  • 1 can (355 ml) ginger ale
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup mirin
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons molasses (fancy molasses)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons ginger, minced (prepared)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

How to Make

  • Step 1: Put 2 cloves of garlic through a garlic press and mix with the soy sauce, mirin, rice vinegar, molasses, cornstarch, ginger and sesame oil; whisk together in a sauce pan and bring to medium-low heat.

  • Step 2: Bring to a simmer, while stirring constantly, and continue to simmer until sauce thickens; set aside.

  • Step 3: Slice the ribs into portion sizes.

  • Step 4: In a large heavy bottomed pot, bring the ribs, ginger ale, 1 cup water and 2 cloves garlic to a boil over high heat.

  • Step 5: Reduce heat to medium and simmer uncovered, until liquid is reduced by half, about 30 minutes.

  • Step 6: Drain, gently pat dry and brush with sauce.
