  • 1/2 cup butter, at room temperature
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons finely ground coffee
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup orange marmalade
  • 6 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped (or 6 ounces semisweet chocolate chips)
  • 3 tablespoons whipping cream

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 325° Fahrenheit.

  • Step 2: Beat butter and sugar together until smooth. Beat in egg yolk.

  • Step 3: Combine flour, coffee, baking powder and salt. Stir into butter mixture and mix until well-blended.

  • Step 4: Press mixture into the bottom of a 9"x13" baking pan. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until lightly browned.

  • Step 5: Spread marmalade over warm crust. Let cool completely.

  • Step 6: Place chocolate and cream in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water. Heat, stirring often, until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth.

  • Step 7: Spread chocolate over marmalade layer and chill until chocolate is firm to the touch, about 30 minutes.
