Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • FOR MEATBALLS
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 can (5 ounces) evaporated milk
  • 1 cup oats (quick-cooking)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 4 large garlic cloves, finely minced (or 2 teaspoons garlic powder)
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • FOR SAUCE
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion, finely chopped (or minced)
  • 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke, optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper

How to Make

  • Step 1: MEATBALLS; in a bowl, combine the first eight ingredients. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well.

  • Step 2: Shape into 1-in. balls. Place in a greased 13 x 9-inch baking dish.

  • Step 3: Bake, uncovered in a preheated 350 degrees F for 18-20 minutes or until meat is no longer pink.

  • Step 4: SAUCE; meanwhile, combine the sauce ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 2 minutes, stirring frequently. Pour over meatballs. Bake 10-12 minutes longer.
