Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 jar (2 ounce) chipped beef (or as close as you can get)
  • 3 tablespoons oil (vegetable oil)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped sweet onions
  • 3 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
  • 1 cup evaporated milk (or more depending on how thick or thin you like your gravy)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Separate chipped beef and soak in a small bowl of water for 15 minutes,drain off water and continue with recipe.

  • Step 2: In a medium size skillet over medium heat,add oil and heat until hot but not smoking.

  • Step 3: Add onions,and cook until slightly softened.

  • Step 4: Add flour and cook until flour taste is gone.

  • Step 5: Pour in milk a little at a time and stir until desired thickness is reached.

  • Step 6: Chop beef into pieces and add to gravy.

  • Step 7: Taste and add desired amount of salt and pepper,then serve over toast or whatever you like.
