Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 large eggs, well beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup breadcrumbs (plain)
  • 1/2 cup onions, finely chopped (sweet onions)
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 garlic cloves,minced
  • GRAVY INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 package (7/8 ounce) brown gravy mix
  • 1 whole onion, large (thinly sliced,and separated into rings)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 1 can (4 ounce) sliced mushrooms (drained)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  • Step 2: In large bowl, combine all loaf ingredients, mixing well but lightly as not to dry out meat.

  • Step 3: Pour into a lightly oiled 9 1/4 x 5 1/4-inch loaf pan.

  • Step 4: Bake at 350°F for 40 minutes. Drain grease. Top with gravy and bake for 15 to 20 minutes.

  • Step 5: For gravy: Prepare gravy mix and water according to package directions.

  • Step 6: In a medium size skillet, melt margarine.

  • Step 7: Add sliced onions, brown sugar, and mushrooms, stirring until onions are softened and a medium brown, about 15 minutes.

  • Step 8: Add gravy and stir until thickened and heated through.
