Ingredients

  • CAKE
  • 1 package (18 1/4 ounce) white cake mix
  • 1 cup 2% milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 6 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • CINNAMON FROSTING
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 5 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons half and half (or milk)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cinnamon-sugar (a mix of 1 1/2 tablespoons of granulated white sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350F.

  • Step 2: For the cake; In a large bowl, combine all cake ingredients; beat on low speed for 30 seconds. Beat on medium for 2 minutes.

  • Step 3: Transfer the batter to two greased and floured 9-in. round baking pans.

  • Step 4: Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the middle comes out clean.

  • Step 5: Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely.

  • Step 6: For the frosting; In a large bowl, beat butter until fluffy. Add the confectioners’ sugar, salt, cream or milk, cinnamon and vanilla extract; beat until smooth.

  • Step 7: Spread the frosting between layers and over top and sides of cake.

  • Step 8: Sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar.

  • Step 9: Store in the refrigerator.
