Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoons ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoons ground cloves
  • 1 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted and cooled
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons molasses, unsulfered
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

How to Make

  • Step 1: Heat waffle iron.

  • Step 2: In the meantime, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, sugar and spices. Set aside.

  • Step 3: In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, butter, eggs, molasses and vanilla.

  • Step 4: Add wet ingredients to dry, whisking until smooth.

  • Step 5: Coat waffle iron with cooking spray.

  • Step 6: Pour batter into waffle iron and cook as per instructions (it’s usually called for to fill the waffle well about 3/4 full). Close and cook until waffle is golden and cooked through.
