Step 1: Grease a 9-inch baking dish.
Step 2: Season the thighs with salt and pepper. Brown the skin side only in hot butter or oil. Place the browned thighs in baking dish (skin side up).
Step 3: In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, pineapple with the juice, honey, garlic salt or powder, ginger and pepper.
Step 4: In a small bowl mix the soy sauce with cornstarch until smooth; add to the pineapple mixture. Cook and stir over medium-low heat until thickened, about 3 minutes.
Step 5: Pour over the chicken.
Step 6: Bake, uncovered in 350° (preheated oven) for 35-45 minutes or until the chicken is totally cooked.
