  • 1 pound string beans (fresh, ends trimmed)
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth (or water)
  • Salt
  • Ground pepper (or lemon pepper)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Using a large bowl prepare a ice water bath and set aside.

  • Step 2: Bring a large pot of water to a boil; add 2 teaspoons salt or how much you want.

  • Step 3: Add green beans and bring back to a boil. Cook until crisp tender, about 3-5 minutes. using a slotted spoon, transfer the beans to the ice water bath and let sit in ice water for about 3 minutes (this will stop the cooking process). Drain and set aside.

  • Step 4: In a large sauce pan bring 1/4 cup water or broth and butter to a boil over medium high heat. Add beans. Saute the beans until they are just heated through. Season with coarse salt and fresh ground pepper or lemon pepper.
