Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3/4 cup sugar (vegan sugar)
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened (vegan butter)
  • 3 tablespoons blackstrap molasses
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup bread flour (yes bread flour)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Vegan chocolate chips (3/4 cup, or to you liking)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Step 2: Line a baking sheet pan with a silicone baking mat or line with parchment paper.

  • Step 3: In a large bowl cream together the sugar, vegan butter, molasses and vanilla.

  • Step 4: In a small bowl sift together both the bread flour, all-purpose flour, cocoa, spices, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

  • Step 5: Beat flour mixture into sugar mixture. The dough will be stiff.

  • Step 6: Fold in chocolate chips.

  • Step 7: Form dough into 2″ balls. Place on baking sheet 3-inches apart.

  • Step 8: Bake for 8-10 minutes.

  • Step 9: Allow to cool on cookie sheet 2-3 minutes before transferring cooling rack.

  • Step 10: Cookies are best enjoyed warm.
