Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 6 cups water
  • 3 boullion cubes (beef)
  • 2 cups carrots, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 1/2 cup celery, sliced
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper
  • 1/3 cup barley, uncooked
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • Pepper to taste
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 (28 ounce) can tomatoes (chop up)
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce

How to Make

  • Step 1: In 5 quart dutch oven brown beef, drain well.

  • Step 2: Stir in remaining ingredients. Bring to boil.

  • Step 3: Reduce hat cover and simmer 1 hour or barley tender remove bay leaf.
