Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 onions, diced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup reduced fat sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar cheese, divided)
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • Salt and pepper

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350° F

  • Step 2: Heat 1-2 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet. Add in onions, cook until softened, about 4 minutes.

  • Step 3: Add ground beef and garlic powder and oregano, brown the ground beef completely, about 10 minutes.

  • Step 4: Add rice, peas tomato sauce, 1 cup cheese and broth, season with salt and pepper. Simmer mixture for 5-8 minutes, stirring.

  • Step 5: Transfer everything into a casserole dish and bake for 15 minutes

  • Step 6: Meanwhile combine the remaining 1 cup shredded cheese with the sour cream.

  • Step 7: After 15 minutes bring the cheese/sour cream mixture on top of you casserole and bake for another 15 minutes.
