Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 package (8 ounce) dry macaroni pasta
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Fresh ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (good quality)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (buttered)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F.

  • Step 2: Cook, and drain macaroni according to package directions. Set aside.

  • Step 3: In a large saucepan, melt butter.

  • Step 4: Add flour mixed with salt and pepper, using a whisk to stir until well blended.

  • Step 5: Pour milk and cream in gradually, stirring constantly.

  • Step 6: Bring to boiling point, and boil for 2 minutes (stirring constantly).

  • Step 7: Reduce heat, and cook (stirring constantly) for 10 minutes.

  • Step 8: Add shredded Cheddar cheese a little at a time, and simmer an additional 5 minutes, or until cheese melts.

  • Step 9: Turn off stove.

  • Step 10: Add macaroni to the saucepan, and toss to coat with the cheese sauce.

  • Step 11: Transfer macaroni to a buttered baking dish.

  • Step 12: Sprinkle with breadcrumbs.

  • Step 13: Bake 20 minutes, until it's bubbling and golden brown on top.
