How to Make

  • Step 1: Stir flour, sugar, yeast, and salt together in a bowl.

  • Step 2: In a separate bowl, beat evaporated milk with egg, 2 tablespoons oil, and warm water. Remove 1/3 cup of the flour mixture from the bowl and set aside. Then pour half of the flour mixture into the wet ingredients. Stir well, then add the rest of the flour mixture.

  • Step 3: Rub your hands with flour, then fold the dough over onto itself in the bowl for a few minutes to smooth it out. Cover and let rise for 10 minutes.

  • Step 6: Fill a deep fryer with oil according to manufacturer's instructions. Heat to 360 degrees F. Fry the beignets in hot oil in batches for about 2 minutes per batch.
