  • 1 pound fresh asparagus
  • 3/4 pound fettuccine pasta
  • 1/4 cup butter (cut into pieces)
  • 1 cup heavy cream (whipping cream)
  • 1 pinch grated nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic salt (or to you taste)
  • 1/8 teaspoon fresh-ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving

How to Make

  • Step 1: Snap the tough ends off the asparagus and discard them. Cut the asparagus spears into 1-inch pieces.

  • Step 2: In a large pot of boiling, salted water, cook the fettuccine until almost done, about 8 minutes.

  • Step 3: Add the asparagus; cook until it and the pasta are just done, about 4 minutes longer.

  • Step 4: Drain the pasta and asparagus.

  • Step 5: Toss with the butter, cream, nutmeg, garlicsalt, pepper and Parmesan.

  • Step 6: Serve with additional Parmesan.
