Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 tablespoons oil (olive oil)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream (heavy cream)
  • 1/2 cup half and half
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (light or fat free cream cheese)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a large skillet, add olive oil and onions. Saute 8 minutes. Add garlic and tomatoes. Simmer 10 minutes.

  • Step 2: Add pepper flakes, salt, sugar, black pepper, cream, half and half, and cream cheese. Simmer 15 minutes.

  • Step 3: If you want a thicker sauce, you can simmer the sauce for 2 additional hours on low. Stir sauce every 10-15 minutes.

  • Step 4: Check seasonings.

  • Step 5: Add Parmesan.

  • Step 6: Allow sauce to cool for 15 minutes before serving.

  • Step 7: Add sauce over noodles in large bowls and sprinkle with additional Parmesan.
