The ingredients are:
  • 3 cups fresh or frozen (thawed and drained) blackberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup unbleached flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

How to Make

  • Step 1: Stir together blackberries and sugar. Let stand about 20 minutes or until fruit syrup forms.

  • Step 2: Heat oven to 375 degrees.

  • Step 3: Stir together flour, baking powder, salt and milk. (I stirred until well combined, but not until completely smooth. There were some flour lumps still remaining.) Stir in melted butter until blended. Mix well but gently.

  • Step 4: Bake 45 minutes or until dough rises and is golden.
