Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter, do not use margarine
  • 3-4 bananas, peeled and sliced length wise
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup dark rum
  • 2 tablespoons banana liquer
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped pecans (optional)
  • 1/2 gallon good quality vanilla ice cream

How to Make

  • Step 1: Mix rum and banana liqueur in small sauce pan and warm on low. Set aside.

  • Step 2: Melt butter and sugar in a nonstick frying pan large enough to hold all the bananas. A chafing dish can also be used if you plan to cook table side.

  • Step 3: Add bananas and saute just until tender. 2-3 minutes depending on ripeness of bananas. Sprinkle with cinnamon.

  • Step 4: Divide ice cream into serving dishes.

  • Step 5: BE VERY CAREFUL! Pour the rum mixture over the bananas and flame.

  • Step 6: Place bananas next to ice cream and top with warm liqueur sauce. Garnish with chopped pecans if you like.
