Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 5 cups old fashioned rolled oats (not quick cook)
  • 3 cups Kashi 7 Whole Grain Puffs Cereal (rice cereal will do instead but the flavor won't be the same and as good)
  • 1 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon salt

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (yes a very low temperture oven) and move rack to second position from the bottom.

  • Step 2: In a large bowl, combine oatmeal and Kashi cereal. In a smaller bowl, thoroughly combine brown sugar, cocoa powder, and salt. Pour dry ingredients into cereal mixture and stir until all cereal has been mixed with chocolate.

  • Step 3: In the small bowl, combine maple syrup and vanilla extract. Slowly pour maple syrup over the cereal while stirring. Stir until there is no powdered cocoa left and all cereal is evenly coated with chocolate.

  • Step 4: Spray a large baking sheet with cooking spray. Spread the granola evenly over the baking sheet and place in the oven. Bake for 1 hour stirring occasionally to evenly bake the granola. .

  • Step 5: Let the granola cool completely and then store in an airtight jar or container.
