  • 4 tablespoons dark corn syrup
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

How to Make

  • Step 1: Stir sugar and syrup together in a cold pan.

  • Step 2: Put over medium-high heat; from this point, do NOT stir, but only swirl the pan.

  • Step 3: Cook until golden and thick and bubbles are beginning to mount.

  • Step 4: Turn off heat and add baking soda.

  • Step 5: Whisk vigorously.

  • Step 6: Pour onto a cookie sheet and let stand 15 minutes.

  • Step 7: Smash into large pieces.
