Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 cup butter, cut into pieces (2 cubes)
  • 4 ounce semi-sweet chocolate
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups granular sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (sifted if needed)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (sifted if needed)
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups walnuts, chopped (or pecans (optional, I did half the batter with and half without)
  • Walnut or pecan halves, to top (optional)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350F. Lay out 16-18 foil lined cupcake liners on a cookie sheet.

  • Step 2: Melt butter and chocolate in the microwave. Stir and let cool.

  • Step 3: Beat together eggs, sugar and vanilla until well mixed.

  • Step 4: Beat in cooled chocolate mixture and cocoa until well mixed.

  • Step 5: Stir in flour until well mixed.

  • Step 6: Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.

  • Step 7: Scoop batter with an ice cream scooper into cupcake liners to the top. They won't rise. Top with a half walnut or pecan, if desired.

  • Step 8: Bake for 18-20 minutes, until the top is crackled. I like to remove them when they are a little underdone, the top may sink in a little but they will be extra soft and yummy.

  • Step 9: Great warm and cooled. Try reheating for a few seconds in the microwave and topped with whipped cream.
