Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/2 to 3/4 pound ground beef (1 pound is too much to fit in the crust)
  • 1 yellow onion (small onion, finely chopped)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder or more to taste)
  • Cayenne, optional and to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt (or to taste )
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper (or to taste)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (full fat and NOT salad dressing)
  • 1/2 cup whole milk (or 2% or half and half)
  • 1 can (4 ounce) sliced mushrooms, drained (hand-squeeze to remove excess moisture, or can use fresh sliced mushrooms that are pre-cooked)
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided - you can use a little more in the pie and for the top)
  • 1 unbaked (202 grams) pie crust (MUST be a deep-dish pie crust)
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  • Step 2: Bake the thawed pie crust for about 8-10 minutes (crust should be just a very pale light brown and baking time will vary depending if you set the crust on a baking sheet or not).

  • Step 3: In a skillet cook the ground beef until no longer pink. Add in onion; cook stirring a few minutes; drain fat. Add in garlic and cook 2 minutes. Cool slightly.

  • Step 4: In a bowl add the eggs, whisk vigorously. Add milk then whisk again, then the mayonnaise (you will need to whisk vigorously or small mayonnaise lumps will remain). Mix in the beef mixture, mushrooms, Parmesan cheese and 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese. Season with seasoned salt and pepper to taste. Transfer into the partially baked crust. Place the pie plate on a baking sheet to catch any spills.

  • Step 5: Bake at 350 degrees F (bottom oven rack) for about 30 minutes. Remove sprinkle with remaining 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or more) and allow to stand for 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is melted.

Tips & Variations

Don't forget the following tips and variations.
