Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 1/4 pounds ground beef
  • 6 tablespoons refried beans
  • 2 jalapeno peppers, seeded (membrane removed, finely chopped)
  • 4 tablespoons sweet onion, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil (olive oil)
  • 4 tablespoons hot salsa
  • 4 American jack cheese slices (or your favorite cheese)
  • 8 mushrooms, cleaned, sliced
  • 1 avocado, peeled, pitted and sliced
  • 4 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1 medium tomato, washed, chopped
  • 4 bacon slices (crisp fried and crumbled)
  • 4 bread buns (Portuguese buns or large hamburger buns)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Make 8 patties from the hamburger

  • Step 2: On four of the patties but a tablespoon of refried beans, sprinkle on some jalapeno pepper, a tablespoon of onions and season with salt and pepper

  • Step 3: Place a pattie on top of each and tightly seal the edges

  • Step 4: Heat the oil in a skillet, high heat, place the burgers in the pan and fry for 1 minute, flip the burgers, turn heat to medium, add mushrooms, cover the pan cook for 5 minutes giving the mushrooms a stir or two

  • Step 5: Flip the burger, turn heat down a bit lower, stir the mushrooms to brown evenly Cover the pan and cook for a furthe 5-6 minutes. The burgers will be well done

  • Step 6: Meanwhile slit the buns and toast 1 side, when browned slightly add the cheese, continue broiling until the cheese has melted

  • Step 7: Assemble the burgers. Put the mushrooms and bacon on the bun then the burger and top with salsa, avocado,tomatoes and sour cream. Napkins needed
