Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons chili garlic sauce
  • 1 pound beef stir-fry strips
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons oil, divided
  • 1 (1-inch) piece fresh gingerroot, peeled and minced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 large red bell bell pepper, diced
  • Garnish: green onion, toasted sesame seeds

How to Make

  • Step 1: To make the sauce; in a bowl combine hoisin sauce with next 4 ingredients. Set aside.

  • Step 2: Season beef strips with salt and pepper.

  • Step 3: Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a wok. Add beef and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until meat is browned and caramelized.

  • Step 4: Remove beef from wok; add remaining 1 tablespoon oil, garlic, ginger, peppers. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes stir constantly. Add sauce to wok allow to thicken with vegetables. Remove from heat and add beef strips.

  • Step 5: Serve over rice or noodles, garnish with green onion and toasted sesame seeds.
