Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 6-8 apples, diced (use a mix of granny smith, fuji, mcintosh, gala, etc; also, you can peel if you want, that is personal preference)
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries (or dried pears)
  • 1/2 cup apple cider (apple juice can be substituted)
  • 2 tablespoons brandy (you can always buy one of those mini bottles, if you don't want to buy a full bottle)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons honey (I use a bit less, it depends on how sweet your apples are)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Pinch cinnamon (to taste)
  • Pinch salt
  • Garnish:
  • Toasted pecans or walnuts
We recommend you get your ingredients ready before you start cooking. Once you're ready, here are the steps to making this delicious recipe

How to Make

  • Step 1: Base ... Add the butter to a pot and bring to medium heat. Once melted, add the apples and saute for a couple of minutes. Then add in the apple cider, honey, brandy, bring to a light boil; then, reduce to medium low heat, and simmer until the apples are soft and most of the liquid has evaporated (about 5-8 minutes).

  • Step 2: Finish ... Add the cranberries, a pinch of salt, cinnamon, and stir to combine. Cook another couple of minutes, and then remove from the heat. As the sauce cools, it will thicken up. Once the sauce is completely cooled and thickened, transfer to a serving bowl and cover with plastic wrap.

  • Step 3: Serve ... I like to serve this cold; but, you could always heat it up in the microwave if you want. Garnish with toasted pecans or walnuts if you want. ENJOY!
