Step 1: Cake ... Add the cake mix, pumpkin, and applesauce to a large bowl and mix well. I mixed this by hand which works just fine. Just make sure it is well combined; and, I would say I mixed for a good 3 minutes. If you want, add the raisins and walnuts, I think they add a nice flavor to the cake.
Step 2: Pan ... I used 2 round pans (ate one, and froze one for later), but you can also use a 13x9 pan. Some people use a bundt, but I prefer not to (just personal taste). I also like to line my pan with parchment paper, but you can also use a non-stick spray; use whatever you normally bake with. Add the batter to the pan, and spread out as evenly as possible. It is a very thick batter, but do the best you can.
Step 3: Bake ... Add the cake to the middle shelf in a 350 degree preheated oven. Bake 25-30 minutes (this can vary a bit on your oven) until a knife when inserted in the center, comes out clean. Cool on a cooling rack. By using the parchment paper, you can usually flip the cake right out with no sticking; or, you can serve it right out of the pan.
Step 4: Serve and ENJOY! ... I serve this with whipped cream or cool whip, but you could also use a glaze, or cream cheese frosting. You could also serve it warm (microwave for just a few seconds) and top with vanilla ice cream. Great for dessert, a snack or even breakfast.
