Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 10 ounces fresh pearl onions
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup half and half
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper, or more to taste
  • 1/4 cup dry breadcrumbs
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons Parmesan cheese, or more to taste

How to Make

  • Step 1: Trim root ends from onions; peel. Place onions in medium saucepan with 1 inch of water; cover. Bring to a boil over high heat; reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer until fork-tender, about 15 to 20 minutes. Drain VERY WELL; set aside. Keep warm.

  • Step 2: For the cream sauce, melt butter in large saucepan over medium heat. Blend in flour and garlic powder with wire whisk until mixture is smooth.

  • Step 3: Heat until mixture bubbles. Whisk in half-and-half. Cook, whisking constantly, until mixture thickens, about 5 minutes. Add salt and pepper. Stir in cooked onions and Parmesan cheese.

  • Step 4: Place onions on serving platter. Sprinkle with dry bread crumbs. Sprinkle onions with paprika. SO GOOD!
