Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1(500 gram) package oatmeal cookie mix (Betty Crocker)
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1 (21 ounce) can apple or blueberry pie filling
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (or to taste)
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a large bowl add the cookie mix and cold butter cubes. Using a pastry blender in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  • Step 2: Reserve 1 1/2 cups of the crumb mixture. Press the remaining crumbs into the bottom and sides of a greased 9" x 13" baking dish. Bake at 350° F for 10 minutes, then remove from oven.

  • Step 3: Meanwhile in large mixing bowl, using an electric mixer on medium speed, beat the cream cheese, sugar, flour, vanilla extract and the egg until well combined and mixture is smooth.

  • Step 4: Spread the cream cheese mixture gently and evenly over the baked crust. Do this in small spoonfuls. then using back of a spoon join together the dollops of filling carefully not to lift the crust from the bottom of the dish. Spread the pie filling over the top of the cream cheese mixture.

  • Step 5: Sprinkle the reserved crumbs over top. Sprinkle the chopped walnuts over top.

  • Step 6: Bake at 350degrees F for about 35 minutes, or until light golden brown. Allow to cool for 30 minutes. Refrigerate for 3 hours or more. Cut into bars.
