Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 3/4 cup butter plus 1 tablespoon, separated
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 5 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 2/3 cups graham wafers crumbs
  • 1 cup coconut
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 ounces chocolate (semi-sweet)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Grease a 9-inch square cake pan.

  • Step 2: In a sauce pan combine 1/2 butter, white sugar, cocoa, 1 egg and vanilla.

  • Step 3: Cook over medium heat stirring constantly, until smooth and slightly thickened.

  • Step 4: Stir in the graham crumbs, coconut and walnuts and press into prepared pan.

  • Step 5: Cream 1/4 cup of the butter and gradually beat in powdered sugar and 1 egg. (This is where you can add different flavouring and food coloring if you like).

  • Step 6: Spread over crumb mixture and chill for about 15 minutes.

  • Step 7: Melt the chocolate and 1 tablespoon butter together in a double broiler or in a microwave, being careful not to burn.

  • Step 8: Spread on top.

  • Step 9: Chill until set.

  • Step 10: Cut into squares with a sharp knife.
