Step 1: In a large saucepan over low heat, melt butter or margarine.
Step 2: Add marshmallows; stir until melted and well blended.
Step 3: Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
Step 4: Add cereal, stirring until coated.
Step 5: Using a lightly buttered spatula, press into a buttered 13 x 9 inch pan and allow to cool.
Step 6: Cut into 24 squares.
