Step 1: In a saucepan, mix butter, milk and sugar. Bring to a boil; boil for 3 minutes.. Remove from heat; mix in rolled oats, coconut, cocoa powder and vanilla, until well mixed.
Step 2: Spoon mounds onto a buttered baking sheet or plates (or shape into balls, these are very sticky so if your handling them I suggest to grease your hands). Refrigerate for 2 hours before serving. These freeze well but must be tightly wrapped in foil or in a covered container to avoid picking up any freezer odors.
