Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 pound Italian sausage (links, sliced)
  • 6 bacon slices (thick sliced bacon, chopped)
  • 1 large yellow onion (chopped)
  • 6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon spicy chili flakes
  • 3 cans (10 ounce) chicken broth
  • 3 cups water
  • 4 cups chopped kale (you can just use as much as you like)
  • 1 cup heavy cream (divided, whipping cream)
  • 4 potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1/3 to 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a pot brown the sausage slices. Remove to a plate. Add in bacon; cook until browned. Add in onion and spicy flakes; cook until softened. Add in garlic; cook 1 minute.

  • Step 2: Add the browned sausage back to the pot along with water, broth, kale and potatoes and 1/2 cup heavy cream; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are tender (about 20 minutes).

  • Step 3: Using a potato masher mash some potatoes to thicken up the liquid. Add in remaining 1/2 cup heavy cream and Parmesan cheese, cook stirring until heated through. Season with salt and pepper.
