Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large jalapeno pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce or ketchup
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoon steak sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon cider vinegar
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 6 to 8 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 6 to 8 hamburger buns, split and toasted
  • Cooked bacon strips (2 per burger should be enough)
  • Optional toppings: lettuce leaves and tomato, onion and pickle slices

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a large bowl, combine the first 11 ingredients. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into 6-8 patties.

  • Step 2: Grill burgers covered, over medium heat or broil 3 inches from the heat for 4-7 minutes on each side or until a thermometer reads 160° and juices run clear.

  • Step 3: Top with cheese. Grill 1 minute longer or until cheese is melted. Serve on buns with bacon and toppings of choice.
