Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2: Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
Step 3: Add the butter and sugar to the bowl of an electric stand mixer. Beat together for 2-3 minutes on medium-high speed (until fluffy). Add the eggs, one at a time, scraping down the bowl as needed. Mix in the vanilla and cocoa powder until incorporated well.
Step 4: Add the flour, salt, and baking powder to the bowl and mix on low speed until incorporated. Lastly, fold in the chocolate chips & pecans with a spatula.
Step 5: Scoop the dough into roughly 1/4 cup balls and place onto prepared baking sheets a couple of inches apart. Flatten slightly with the palm of your hand.
Step 6: Bake for 15-20 minutes, until just set. Remove from oven and allow to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes.
Step 7: Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
