Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 14 ounces cooked tuna (solid white tuna, drained, two 7-ounce cans solid white tuna, squeeze out excess moisture with hands)
  • 1 to 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 small celery rib, finely diced
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise, or to taste
  • 3 tablespoons sweet pickle relish (optional but good to add)
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (start with 2 tablespoons and add in more if needed)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon pepper (or 1/4 tsp fresh ground black pepper)
  • 1/4 teaspoon mustard powder (optional)
  • 2 to 3 drops Tabasco sauce
  • 4 to 6 bread slices
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices

How to Make

  • Step 1: Drain the tuna then hand-squeeze out any excess moisture; place in a bowl then flake with a fork. Add in all remaining ingredients up to the Tabasco sauce; mix until well combined, adjusting all seasonings to suit taste.

  • Step 2: Cover with plastic wrap and chill for at least 2 hours (more is even better!). Divide onto toasted or untoasted bread slices with lettuce leaves and tomato slices.
