Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 pounds small pickling cucumbers, thinly sliced (I use a mandoline)
  • 2 cups thinly sliced yellow onions
  • 1 1/2 cups white vinegar
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground tumeric
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoons crush pepper flakes (or as to you liking)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 6 to 10 garlic cloves, sliced in half

How to Make

  • Step 1: Place HALF of cucumber slices in a large glass jar; top with 1 cup onion. Repeat procedure with the remaining cucumber slices and remaining 1 cup onion this will be a layering effect).

  • Step 2: Combine vinegar and remaining ingredients in a small saucepan; stir well. Bring to a boil; cook stirring 1 minute. let cool. Pour over cucumber mixture. Cover tightly and refrigerate at least 4 days before using and up to 4 weeks.
