Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (can use more)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 to 1 cup vanilla ice cream
  • 3/4 cup uncooked white rice (do not rinse the rice)
  • Additions (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (or 1 cinnamon stick or 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg)
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a HEAVY 5-quart pot combine all ingredients; bring to a boil over medium heat stirring (watch this boils up very high).

  • Step 2: Reduce heat to low and continue cooking for about 1 hour or more or until thick and creamy stirring frequently (the pudding will thicken more after you remove it from the heat and allow to stand).
